About the Research Group

The main aim of the group is to do research at a high international level in the fields of vitamin D, testosterone, diabetes and osteoporosis.

For vitamin D the over all aim is to study if supplementation with vitamin D will improve health with special focus on osteoporosis, depression, insulin sensitivity, prevention of type 2 diabetes, and mortality.

For testosteron the main aim is to study the effects of genetic variants in the testosterone gene in relation to known testosterone effects.

For diabetes the focus is on improved diagnosis of type 2 diabetes by the use of HbA1c, and also to study the effect of other endocrine systems on the development of type 2 diabetes.

For osteoporosis the main projects are related to prognostic factors for osteoporotic fractures based on a Tromsø fracture-registry.
