Environmental mineralogy laboratory
The Environmental mineralogy laboratory at the Department of Geosciences, UiT, is equipped with a Hach handheld multimeter and a set of interchangeable Intellical® probes for measurements of pH, REDOX, conductivity and oxygen concentrations in aqueous solutions. The laboratory also houses a Hach DR1900 portable spectrophotometer, enabling precise analysis of a wide range of anions and cations.
We also perform mineral characterization of various types of materials, including natural samples and tailings, combining optical microscopy, SEM/EDS method and Raman spectroscopy.
In this laboratory we run different types of (bio-)chemical leaching tests on ore-bearing samples as well as on mine tailings.
