Projects
Final report of the project “The Norway-Russian Network for Oral Health and Services of the Indigenous People (Sami & Nenets) in the Circumpolar Region”. UiT The Arctic University of Norway and the Northern State Medical University organized a seminar in Arkhangelsk, Russia 14-15 September 2017. Under the title "Norway-Russia network of oral health and services of indigenous people (Sami and Nenets) in the circumpolar region". The participants from Northern Norway og Northwest Russia had meetings for exchange of experience and for capacity building. The aim was to develop a larger network concerning oral health promotion in the Circumpolar region.
The aim of the project is to establish a network for cooperation to study and to compare oral health and services in the Northern Norway (Sami people) and in North-West Russia (Sami and Nenets) and to agree the European Global Oral Health Indicators Development (EGOHID) methods, including the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS) to calibrate the clinical examiners for the future oral health surveys and to prepare both partners for a larger Arctic project: “Oral Health Promotion of the Indigenous People in the Circumpolar Region Network” with the 8 most northern dental institutions. This joint symposium is necessary, because the expected funding body (NordForsk Nordic University Hubs) of this larger network does not finance symposiums or the participants to the symposiums outside the Nordic countries.
