Cecilie Harr Moen
Job description
I hold an M.Sc. in Sports Science with a pedagogical profile in Outdoor Education, from the Norwegian School of Sport Science (NIH). Since 2011, I have been affiliated with UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, working across several areas within Physical and Outdoor/Adventure Education. My background before and during the early academic years, is within the nature based tourism as a guide and teacher in Svalbard, Norway and Greenland.
Today I am based in Campus Tromsø at the Departement of Education. I currently teach and supervise in teacher education and early childhood teacher education within the fields of outdoor- and physical education.
I have broad pedagogical and practical experience from field work such as Nordic and alpine winter travel, avalanche safety, kayaking and canoeing, glacier travel, climbing and bouldering, and teaching in mountain and forest environments.
Relations between humans, nature, and culture, as well as embodied learning, are central themes in my teaching.
Projects of 2026/2027 are for example 1) how to integrate sami knowledge and indigenous perspectives into PETE. 2) Environmental learning in PE and OE and 3) climbing/bouldering as an explorative way of teaching PE, green competance and risk management.
