Job description

PhD student in work package 5 Healthy Choices through better Communication - see website - styding research dissemination and health commuication

Overall aims for the PhD Project:
This project aims to understand, create, and improve key steps in the dissemination process of
Norwegian health researchers to ensure that messages reach their targets. As such it will:
• map current research disseminating strategies and incentives among health researchers
• analyze how the public health message should be modified to impact the receiver
• and test the improved message against its target audience.
This will be done through interviews and a series of experiments. Through these endeavors the project
will create a broader understanding of the current status of health research dissemination and
consequently modify and improve Norwegian research dissemination.

Healthy Choices and the Social Gradient:

The Ph.D.-student is one of two students who will be associated with the Healthy Choices and the social gradient-project and enclosed within WP 5 Healthy Choices and the novel science communication. Healthy Choices is a research project led by key researchers at the Department of Community Medicine. The project was granted 50 mill NOK in 2018 by the Norwegian Research Council and is one of three projects supporting the local research environment. The objective of WP 5 is to develop and implement new ways of communicating evidence from public health research to people and decision makers, which enable them to make more informed decisions about healthy choices and health care, reducing inequalities in health (Sandanger, 2019). The Ph.D.-project will apply to Task 5.1 by: […] explore the [media] use […] to reach selected groups in specific case studies. [..] Further will the project [..] build knowledge in target groups [..] (Wien, 2021). The student will publish three original papers in international double peer-reviewed scientific journals on this task (c.f. section 7 Publication plan).
