Job description

I lecture and research on sociolinguistics, multilingualism and Norwegian as a second language in the teacher education.

In my research I am interested in language ideologies, language and materiality, multilingualism in school and education. I currently work on a project on multilingualism in transitions, focusing on the language ideologies of language introduction classes. I am also interested in urban semiotic landscapes, and I study the semiotic transformations in my hometown related to tourism and decolonization processes of the indigenous Sámi people.

My PhD-project investigated language practices in multilingual, transnational families in Northern Norway. Through an interactional sociolinguistic approach, I investigated family interactions in families with adolescent adolescents children, and explored child agencies in translanguaging practices and in teasing and humor.
