Sofia Elisabeth Kjellman

Job description

I am a postdoctoral research fellow in terrestrial Quaternary geology and paleoclimatology. As a paleoclimatologist I am interested in understanding long-term climate and environmental changes. My research focuses on reconstructing Arctic climate in the Quaternary period (the last approx. 2.6 million years), mainly using stable isotope proxies and sedimentary biomarkers in lakes. I have also started exploring the use of sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) to study ecosystem changes (e.g., vegetation) over time.

My teaching experience includes lectures, classroom and lab exercises, and field teaching on courses in Quaternary geology, paleoclimatology and geochronology on bachelor's and master's/PhD level. I also supervise MSc students, and contribute to educational development within iEarth Centre for Integrated Earth Science Education
