Irus Braverman is Professor of Law and Adjunct Professor in Geography at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. She has authored and edited nine books, including Zooland: The Institution of Captivity (2012), Wild Life: The Institution of Nature (2015), Coral Whisperers: Scientists on the Brink (2018), and Blue Legalities: The Laws and Life of the Sea (2020). Her latest monograph, Zoo Veterinarians: Governing Care on a Diseased Planet, is forthcoming in October 2020. She is currently researching three projects: the laws of the sea, national parks in Palestine/Israel, and One Health or EcoHealth
