Shemin Sagaria

Job description

Shemin Sagaria is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. His work spans teaching and research at the intersection of electrical engineering, renewable energy systems, energy storage, and smart grid technologies, with a particular focus on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) systems.

He has over four years of teaching experience and delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in electrical engineering, renewable energy integration, and energy storage technologies. His teaching aims to equip students with a strong theoretical foundation and practical understanding of modern power and energy systems.

His research focuses on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) integration, examining the technical, social, and economic factors that influence V2G performance and large-scale deployment. He investigates grid impacts, market structures, user behaviour, and regulatory constraints to identify key barriers to real-world V2G realisation and to support the development of practical and scalable V2G solutions. His work contributes to enabling high shares of renewable energy, improving grid flexibility, and supporting the transition to low-carbon energy systems using EVs through V2G

He holds a dual MSc in Energy Engineering and Management, with specialisation in renewable energy and energy systems integration. His technical expertise includes energy system modelling, simulation, optimisation, and energy market economics. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is a also a certified project manager and has developed leadership and organisational skills through coordinating international conferences and serving in academic governance and doctoral community roles. He actively engages in interdisciplinary collaboration to bridge academic research with real-world energy system deployment.

Outside academia, he enjoys hiking and bouldering, photography, and solving logic-based puzzles.
