Forskningen min er drevet av ønsket om å analysere maktrelasjoner i de fortellingene som gjennomsyrer samfunn både i historien, nåtiden og fremtiden. Som feministisk forsker har jeg utvidet fokuset mitt fra å analysere eksisterende fortellinger om én spesifikk historisk aktør (i doktorgraden min) til å granske dominerende troper i den vestlige kulturen. Jeg ønsker å avdekke humanioras potensial for å bidra til en bedre forståelse av de kulturelle aspektene ved miljøkrisene. I min forskning beveger jeg meg utover de vedvarende vestlige fortellingene om miljø og klimaendringer for å forstå hvordan steder kan forstås også gjennom kroppsliggjort kunnskap, og hvilken innvirkning dette kan ha på menneskers og jordslektningers liv og død. Jeg tar utgangspunkt i feministiske og kritiske teorier for å finne ut hvordan sonisk tenkning kan bryte ned dominerende epistemologier og sosiale/rasemessige/kjønnede/kroppslige hierarkier. Forskningen min ligger i skjæringspunktet mellom sanselig, kunstnerisk, lokal og urfolks kunnskap, med et geografisk fokus på Nord-Norge/Nord-Sápmi. Jeg er prosjektleder for Arctic Auditories - Hydrospheres of the High North (NFR 325506, 2021-25). I tillegg er jeg medlem av det rådgivende styret i WoVen (NFR 2021-26, PI: Melania Bucciarelli, NTNU) og er medlem av Tenketank Bærekraft ved UiT. Siden 2016 har jeg vært medredaktør for European Journal of Musicology.
