Jiuzhou Hao

Job description

Jiuzhou is a developmental psycho-/neuro-linguist who works on language development and maintenance in monolingual and bilingual children with and without Developmental Language Disorders.

Currently, Jiuzhou works as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Department of Language and Culture at UiT on the project (Heriatge language processing: Pinning down the sources of individual differences).

In his research, Jiuzhou uses a combination of behavioural and psycho/neurolinguistic methods, e.g., eye-tracking, brain-imaging (EEG/ERP), and adopt advanced statistical techniques to model language development with a focus on cross-linguistic aspects and individual differences. His primary research centres on cross-linguistic language development and processing in linguistically and developmentally diverse child populations. This line of research aims to understand the psychological mechanisms underlying language development and use (both production and comprehension) and their interactions with non-linguistic cognitive processes.
