International Conference in Tromsø, Norway, on the 15th and 16th of June 2023

The project Learning, Assessment, and Boundary Crossing in Teacher Education (LAB-TEd) invites to a two-day conference about research and development (R & D) in teacher education and its relevance for teacher education, schools and student teachers.

In many settings internationally, initial teacher education relies on cooperation between schools and universities. When these institutions collaborate on teacher education, the shared work can form a basis for community building. Focusing on university-school partnerships and the master's theses, the conference has a two-fold aim:

1) to focus on the development of collaboration between universities (teacher educators), schools (teachers and school leaders) and student teachers in order to build capacity for practice-based, professionally-oriented research and development (R&D); and

2) the use of practice theory to analyse and develop teaching and learning in the teaching profession.

The conference will have contributions from master's students, teacher educators in schools and universities affiliated with LAB-TEd and key international researchers in the field of teacher education and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) in addition to external contributors. LAB-TEd has a special focus on CHAT but welcomes a broader perspective on practice theory in teacher education.

Tripartite collaboration as an arena for professional development in teacher education 2023 will include plenary sessions, parallel paper presentations and group discussions. This will provide an opportunity to present, discuss and share experiences and ideas where the development of practice and research in schools and teacher education is a central part.
