What Makes us Act? On the Potentials of Exercises in Live Art Education and Performances

Tittel på prøveforelesningstekst:
«The importance of collaborative worldmaking practices is gaining attention in current artistic research and education. This ph.d. project proposes imagining of "potential futures" through artistic exercises, scores, and collaborative tasks. What is a "potential future" in the context of performance / live art pedagogy today? How do you see the possibility of integrating posthumanist theory into artistic research and pedagogy in Nordic or Arctic contexts?»

Offentlig disputas avholdes samme dag kl 13:15. Du kan følge prøveforelesning og disputas på stream eller delta fysisk.

Populærvitenskapelig sammendrag
"What Makes us Act" investigates how exercises in live art education and performances can initiate participation, inclusive spaces and the not-yet planned. The thesis is done by artist-researcher Kristina Junttila Valkoinen who uses her own artistic practise as performance artist and art pedagogue as basis for her research. The thesis lies in the intersection between artistic practice and research, performance studies, art pedagogy and post qualitative inquiry, drawing from a theoretical framework of posthumanism and new materialism, more specifically agential realism. The research is relevant for other artists and pedagogues who are interested in a holistic view on how the art work or pedagogical setting might intra-act with the participants, and how we can develop exercises that open up for the creative, inclusive and unpredictable future.
