CRAFT & ENCODE present: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

The research group CRAFT and the network ENCODE (both UiT) invite to a screening of Denis Villeneuve's film Blade Runner 2049 (2017) at Verdensteatret Cinematek on Wednesday November 1. The screening starts at 17:30.

This is the fifth in a series of screenings that take up questions related to AI and human-machine relations screened in cooperation with Verdensteatret Cinematek. The event is funded by NFH (CRAFT) and HSL (ENCODE).

Denis Villeneuve's film is the sequel to Ridely Scott's acclaimed classic Blade Runner (1982) that was screened in our series last spring. The story commences 30 years after the disappearance of Rick Deckert (Harrison Ford) – a blade runner responsible for hunting down humanoid androids who have managed to escape from their lot as slaves to humanity. We follow young officer K (Ryan Gosling) who is tasked with finding Deckert. While doing so he reveals a secret that can recalibrate the relation between humans and their android creations. The film has been acclaimed for its stunning visual effects and profound world making leading to two Oscar wins - for photography and visual effects. In other words: a must-see when finally shown again on the big screen!

After the screening Zoheb Mashiur and Holger Pötzsch will lead discussions and q/a.

Please note that the screening starts at 17:30 (not 18:00 as usual).

All welcome, so please spread the word!
