Name: Kai Kaviani Campus: Tromsø Country of origin: Netherland Exchanged from: Leiden University Exchange period: Autumn 2024

This was one of the most memorable experiences of my life! I met some of the nicest people during my time here with whom I did some of the coolest things ever. We made campfires under the northern lights, hiked up some high mountains, wild camped in the middle of nowhere, went diving in kelp forests and WW2 shipwrecks, went surfing in the Arctic, found natural waterslides by accidents, went skiing almost daily in December and I can keep going on.

Communication with UiT went pretty well. The inbound exchange office reacts quickly and really tries to help you out with all issues. Be sure to send short, concrete emails (they prefer that). I myself had a lot of issues I ran into considering the exchange, but in the end we were still able to make it happen since communication went so well.

An experience abroad is not only for doing all these cool things, but also for you to experience living in another country. This by itself is a very valuable experience which you will learn a lot of.

You are far from home, and you have to make it a nice time all by yourself. Luckily, all other students want to do exactly the same, which creates this fertile ground for adventures, friendship and memories.
