Infection measures at UiT

Infection control at campus

1 meter rule and use of face mask
Students and staff are asked to comply with the recommendation to keep a 1 meter distance to people who are not in the same household or similarly close contacts, when you are on campus.

We recommend using face masks when it is not possible to keep a distance, unless physical barriers such as the use of partitions or the like are in place.

Please note that there is an exception in the current national guidelines to the distance rule with regard to teaching situations.

Please remember:

  • Everyone who is ill should stay at home and have a low threshold for being tested. This also applies to people who are vaccinated and protected.
  • Avoid hugging and shaking hands.
  • Meet others outdoors where possible.
  • Avoid coughing or sneezing on other people. Use a paper tissue or crook of the elbow when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue and wash your hands afterwards. Have good hand hygiene and keep your hands clean. Use soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

It is important to remember that the tests are intended for students who have symptoms, and are limited to up to 2 tests for each student.

Information about the availability of free corona tests in Harstad can be found here: Covid-19 tests in Harstad municipality (in Norwegian only)

There are few tests left on campus (60). These are distributed to close contacts and in case of symptoms. Those who need tests can contact the following places that distribute tests.

  • Alta Health Center
  • Alta library
  • Alta town hall

At the moment, there is a shortage of self-tests, but as soon as the municipality has enough access, they will go out with info about this on the website, and the campus will again be able to access more tests.
