Housing for employees

Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad manages housing rentals for employees on behalf of UiT.

UiT has a limited number of rental properties and the number of housing applicants is greater than access to dwellings. We therefore recommend all our applicants to look for housing outside UiT's offer at the same time as they have an application with us.

Assuming that there are dwellings vacant, the allocation will take place according to the current criteria for the allocation of housing for employees at UiT.

We also have short-term rentals for visiting researchers and other visitors at UiT.

Application for housing

Applications for housing are processed on an ongoing basis. Right now there is a waiting list. It is not possible to apply for a specific apartment or location, as allocation must take place based on what is available. To be sure that we have all the correct contact - information, it is the resident who must apply/registrate for a housing. 

When allocating a dwelling, it will nevertheless be taken into account the wishes/needs that the applicant states in the application, if possible.

To apply for rent of housing, please send an online application via Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad`s  website: Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad (samskipnaden.no) and include the UiT application form: (- use this PDF form until the online form is in place). We also need a purcase. 

Housing types and prices

Short-term rental: up to 2 months

• There are 20 rooms in dublett (2 rooms share bathroom and kitchen facilities), as well as 1 small flat/family room where one flat is adapted to someone with a physical disability or a wheelchair user.
• The rooms are rented out for up to 2 months.
• There will be clean linen and towels upon arrival.
• Kitchen is equipped with basic kitchenware.
• Common laundry room on each floor.
• Free wifi in all rooms (uit.guest).
• Price rent for dorm in dublett in our guesthouse: 370 nkr per day.
• Price rent for small 2 bedroom apartment in our guesthouse: 420 nkr pr day.
• Rent in our guesthouse in Breiviklia 13 is available to all guests at UiT (students, guest lecturers, employees, UiT's partners etc.).

• There is no parking outside our guesthouse in Breiviklia 13.
• Pets are not allowed in our guesthouse.

Visiting researcher: 2-6 months rental

• All apartments are fully furnished including appliances and necessary kitchenware.
• To apply for a guest researcher's residence, please send an online application via Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad`s hjemmeside: Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad (samskipnaden.no) and include the UiT application form: (- use this PDF form until the online form is in place). Long-term rental: 1 year

• No accommodation will be allocated to employees living in Tromsø upon employment.
• The number of applicants is greater than access to housing, and we therefore recommend all our applicants to look for housing outside UiT's offer at the same time as they have an application with us.
• All apartments are fully furnished including appliances and necessary kitchenware.
• Employees and doctoral students receive a tenancy agreement of maximum 1 year, no possibility of extension of the rental period.
• Standard leases may be terminated with 2 months' notice, effective from the 1st of the following month after receipt of termination.
