USS Arizona. Comparing and Contrasting 2025

Meetings with American Colleagues, 2025

Arctic Science Summit Week 2025 provided an opportunity for Professor Gareth Rees and Dr Bryan Lintott to meet with members of the United States National Park Service´s Submerged Resources Center. These world-leading colleagues discussed the development of the Tirpitz Site Project, and offered information and insights into the conservation and interpretation of the USS Arizona and a range of other ships. They kindly provided a treasure trove of reports and presentations about America’s extraordinary submerged heritage. Enroute to ASSW, Dr Lintott was able to meet with the Chief Archaeologist, Alexis Catsambis, and other members of the United States Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Underwater Archaeology Branch. This also proved to be highly informative and productive.
