The Dream Fishers from Gaza

The Dream Fishers from Gaza, Spring 2026

Gaza, Early Spring 2026 –  In collaboration with our Blyss team and from a coast where discarded dreams meet hope, Shimaa Abu Qamar and her team (Dream fishers) have brought to life a powerful initiative on the coasts of Gaza: co-creating dream catchers from fishnets and developing a powerful ocean literacy activity. This inspiring project, co-created with children and facilitators, transforms discarded fishnets into tools for dreaming and spreading hope. The video, realized by Shimaa Abu Qamar and her team, showcases the activities conducted in early Spring 2026, showing how art can recast light (blue light, blyss) for futures of hope.

The project is the result of a collaborative effort, co-funded by the Asfour Initiative (Dana Ahmed) and the Blyss Project (UArctic 580512127), and carried out in partnership with the research project PES ERC 101492 HP 2622 PES Midler 2025/6 Horizon Europe. Together, these organizations have supported a vision that merges environmental awareness with community empowerment.

The initiative also reflects the power of co-creation in its visual identity. The project’s logo was collaboratively designed by our illustrator Sarah Mohamed, who conceptualized the idea, and Eng. Mohamed Abu Qamar, who brought the concept to life through graphic realization.
