Micro Arctic and Antarctic Climates – (MAACS)

Micro Arctic and Antarctic Climates (MAACS) is a hub for polar academics and practitioners who share an interest in the downsizing of climate models, the integration of local knowledge – in the context of data sovereignty, and the development of tools to inform and empower Polar Peoples, communities, cultural resource managers, science programme managers and scientists in their endeavours.  

A foundational feature of MAACS is the ongoing empowerment of Polar Peoples to increase their engagement – on their terms - with remote sensing and analysis techniques, scenario development and related technologies, e.g. robots and on-site sensors in ways that they consider applicable and appropriate. 

Central to MAACS is the sharing of information and experience between the Arctic and the Antarctic.
