New research affiliation strengthens collaboration with the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn

MIRevolution project leader Bastian Fromm has been appointed Associate Research Fellow at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN) in Naples for a three-year period.

Founded in 1872, SZN is one of the world’s oldest and most renowned marine biological research institutes. It has played an important role in the development of evolutionary and developmental biology, marine science and genomics.

The appointment will help strengthen collaboration between UiT The Arctic University of Norway and SZN across several areas central to MIRevolution, including evolutionary genomics, microRNA biology, biodiversity genomics, and ancient and environmental RNA. Such international partnerships are essential for addressing scientific questions that span evolutionary timescales, ecosystems and academic disciplines.

“I am grateful to my colleagues at SZN for their trust and look forward to developing our collaboration further over the coming three years,” says Fromm.
