Read/Play/Write

Presenting the Read/Play/Write Project at the Games & Literary Theory 2026 Conference.

The Read/Play/Write Project in Rome debuts at the Games & Literary Theory 2026 Conference.

The Read/Play/Write Project was publicly debuted at the Games & Literary Theory 2026 Conference in Rome, on the 4th and 5th of June. ENCODE members Zoheb Mashiur (CRAFT & ENCODE) and Therese Holt Hansen (ENCODE) presented the concept of the Read/Play/Write method and the results of the first internal play-test of the method using the game The Ground Itself (Pipkin 2019) to play the short story There Will Come Short Rains (Bradbury 1950), a science fiction classic frequently used in Norwegian English literature classes in school. The presentation was done in collaboration with Holger Pötzsch (CRAFT & ENCODE) and Melania Borit (CRAFT) who joined online. The presentation was well-received, with a productive Q&A session and conversations with colleagues in games studies over the two days of the conference.
