Will use "radioactive missiles" against advanced cancer
NRK: Researchers in Tromsø will test a new type of targeted radiation therapy for patients whose cancer no longer responds to other treatments.
Researchers at UiT The Arctic University of Norway and the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) are developing a more targeted form of cancer treatment using radioactive substances. In the THERACAN project, radioactive molecules act like tiny “missiles” that travel through the bloodstream, identify specific cancer cells and deliver radiation directly to them. The goal is to destroy cancer cells more precisely while reducing damage to healthy tissue.
