New gifts from Mohn bring major benefits for patients

Pingvinavisa.no: With the latest and most advanced total-body PET/CT scanner now installed at UNN Tromsø, capacity will double, enabling faster and better diagnostics for new patient groups.

A donation of nearly NOK 200 million from Trond Mohn has provided the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) with a state-of-the-art total-body PET/CT scanner and a new PET/MRI scanner. The PET/CT reduces examination times from 20 to five minutes and doubles daily capacity, while using lower radiation doses and extending access to groups such as pregnant women, young children and patients with dementia. Together, the scanners will improve diagnostics, particularly for cancer patients, and create new opportunities for advanced medical research.
