The NUAS planning group on Research and Innovation is arranging a combined seminar and workshop on the strategic use of different types of data to increase Nordic universities’ competitiveness within Horizon 2020, to use in the recruitment of new researchers and to otherwise improve processes around strategic decisions.
Background
Universities have always used available data to improve decision-making, but the increased availability of data, the increased computational power and the rapidly improving tools for analysis of these data, are opening new strategic possibilities for universities. Traditionally, universities have used data to report on their performance and to make informed decisions in the board. With the new possibilities, universities may utilise data on a more operational level to improve their performance within research, innovation and human resources.

Senior research-, library- and HR-officers.
Programme
Day one is a plenary seminar on how intelligence may improve decision-making at an operational level. The participants will learn how universities benchmark themselves against competitors, use various sources of relevant information to identify scientific and commercial partners in proposals, screen candidates for proposals, improve the quality of recruitment of staff and incentivise staff.
Day two in the program is a workshop where the participants will work together on using intelligence to face a set of scenarios that focus on current challenges in a competitive research world. The goal is to learn ways to take proactive measures to improve the competitiveness of our research groups.

The University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) is proud to invite you to a combined seminar and workshop by NUAS, the Nordic Association of University Administrators, on 9 – 10th of September 2015 in Tromsø, Norway. The conference is organised by the NUAS group Research and Innovation in collaboration with the NUAS group Human Resources.
The conference fee is 2500 NOK. This fee includes the seminar, seminar materials, transport hotel - UiT, all lunches, coffee breaks and refreshments as well as the three-course banquet/dinner with drinks on Wednesday evening at Scandic Ishavshotell, VAT included.
