SusSTEMEd aims at placing sustainability at the core of STEM education at UiT.
The Beacon (fyrtårn) project
SusSTEMEd
aims at developing a world-class, sustainable curriculum in the chemical and materials sciences that is grounded in a contemporary socio-economic and ecological context, responsive to the jobs market, and attractive to an increasingly diverse Norwegian population. The project originated in UiT's
Inorganic and Materials Chemistry Group
led by
Professor Abhik Ghosh
in cooperation with the organic chemistry, materials science, and geochemistry milieus at UiT. Three work packages are currently in place: (a)
Curriculum developmen
t, (b)
Laboratory and project work aimed at greater jobs relevance
, and (c)
Diversity and inclusion
. In this seminar (14:15–15:00), Abhik will present progress over the first year of the Project as well as some plans for the future. At 15:00, the floor will be open for discussion with interested parties, including UiT students and colleagues, until 15:45.
