Nuclear power in the context of sustainability and maritime shipping
The Paris climate goals are difficult to meet as countries struggle to manage even 30% improvements in emission cuts. Globally, the share of renewables to total primary energy remain more or less constant at 4%. It is time to think anew. In this talk, Professor Jan Emblemsvåg (NTNU) will outline how nuclear power can offer a more realistic path towards sustainability goals. In the context of maritime shipping, nuclear power can also become part of the energy mix, thereby aligning with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) objective of achieving zero emissions from shipping by 2050.
