Voluntary workshop in research supervision: The supervisor's ethical responsibility

Wooden desk with notebook and pencil

Ethics in postgraduate supervision is a cornerstone of effective and responsible research supervision. As supervisors, it is imperative to understand and uphold ethical standards to ensure the integrity of the supervisory relationship and the research process. This workshop serves as an introduction to the ethical considerations in postgraduate supervision, providing a foundation for fostering an ethical research environment.

To introduce this important topic, we have invited Helene Ingjerd, the leader of [Position], who will provide valuable insights on this essential matter. (You can update the details based on further notes.)

Workshop Structure:

  • 09:15 Welcome
  • 09:40 Introduction: The Supervisor's Ethical Responsibilities by Helene Ingjerd
  • 09:00 Coffee Break
  • 09:05 Discussion and Wrap-up
  • 10:45 Goodbye!

More information about the workshop will come later.

To Prepare for the Workshop:

  1. Think through the theme and your own experiences about what matters when it comes to ethics in research supervision - both from the Ph.D. candidates' and supervisors' perspectives.
  2. Reflect on: “How can we, as supervisors, colleagues, and leaders foster an ethically sound environment? See through UIT's ethical guidelines for supervision and reflect on them in relation to your own practice, roles, and expectations.”
  3. Consider other aspects you find important related to the core themes.

Welcome!
