SVF-3555 Marine Planning - 10 ECTS
Course content
The course focuses on marine planning and challenges related to this. Based on theories of marine planning, these challenges will be discussed, especially in relation to fisheries and aquaculture development and activities. The course will offer common practical tools used in marine spatial planning and fisheries management plans.Objectives of the course
Knowledge and understanding:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the key theories and concepts used in marine planning
- Broad knowledge of the various processes and accompanying tools used in marine planning
- Basic knowledge of the main effects and challenges in and of marine planning
- Broad knowledge of the relevant ways to address issues related to fisheries and aquaculture developments through marine planning
Skills:
- Can explain and elaborate on the various theories and concepts used in marine planning
- Can apply key theories and concepts to understand marine planning and how we can address challenges in marine planning
- Can critically analyse and discuss, from a social science perspective, challenges in marine planning
- Through independent work, be able to formulate and examine social scientific issues, as well as give a clear, coherent and academic presentation of these

- Ability to critically reflect on key issues in marine governance
- Ability to collaborate, as well as work independently
- Ability to communicate scientific work
- Respect and apply scientific ethics and standards in research
