Christopher Antoun

Job description

I am a PhD student at the Faculty of Health Sciences working affiliated with the Thrombosis Research Group (TREC). My primary goal is to investigate the role of certain small RNAs in both the diagnosis and risk of future venous thromboembolism. The ultimate aim of this pursuit is to faciliate prevention and treatment of this disease.

    Research interests

    • Explore the function of microRNAs (miRs), particularly miR-145, in the pathogenesis of venous thromboembolism (VTE).
    • Investigate the heritable factors of VTE and the underlying reasons for its missing heritability.
    • Examine the current diagnostic biomarkers for VTE and identify new biomarkers to improve VTE diagnosis.
    • Enhance understanding of cancer-associated thrombosis to refine risk assessment for VTE in cancer patients.
