Endalew Lijalem Enyew is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Norwegian Center for the Law of the Sea (NCLOS). His ongoing research focuses on theorizing international law, particularly on the application of the third world approaches to international law (TWAIL) in the law of the sea. Endalew holds a PhD in Law from UiT-The Arctic University of Norway (Norway, 2020). His PhD thesis dealt with 'The Rights of Indigenous Peoples to Marine Space and Marine Resources under International Law', where he explored the interaction between international law of the sea and human rights law pertaining to the rights of indigenous peoples to marine space and marine resources . Endalew also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Peace and Conflict Transformation from the Center for Peace Studies of the University of Tromsø (Norway, 2013), a Master of Laws (LLM) in Business Law from Addis Ababa University School of Law ( Ethiopia, 2011), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Hawassa University Faculty of Law (Ethiopia, 2009). Endalew completed both his LLB and LLM with great distinction, receiving a Gold Medal and a Top Scoring LLM Student Award respectively. He has also received a diploma in Law of the Sea from the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy (University of Virginia, 2015), and has taken one year courses in Indigenous Studies at the Center for Sami Studies (SeSam) of the University of Tromsø, Norway (August 2013- May 2014).
Endalew is the author of the book, 'Piercing the Corporate Veil: Its Recognition and Application in Ethiopia', published by LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing (2014). He has also authored and co-authored several articles and book chapters on indigenous peoples' law (focusing on international human rights law and the law of the sea), peace and conflict studies (particularly on restorative justice), and the Ethiopian criminal, company, and competition laws. His publications in these fields appear, inter alia, in Routledge, Hart Publishing, Arctic Review on Law and Politics, Bergen Journal of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, African Journal of Conflict Resolution, LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Mizan Law Review, and Addis Ababa Students Law Review.He presented his research at various national, Nordic, and international conferences on different occasions. Endalew has also been teaching courses on indigenous peoples rights (JUR: 3605 and JUR: 3053-1) at UiT- The Arctic University of Norway Faculty of Law (Spring 2015-Spring 2018); and various law courses at Addis Ababa University School of Law (January-July 2011), Alpha University College (October 2009-July 2011), and Bahir Dar University Distance Education Center, Addis Ababa (October 2009-July 2011).
