Reidar Staupe

Job description

I am an Associate Professor in Societal Security at the Department of Technology and Safety (ITS). From 2020 to 2022, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at Roskilde University in Denmark.

My doctoral thesis dealt with the concept of preparedness in the context of uncertainty, with examples from El Niño forecasting and preparedness in South America. As a postdoctoral researcher in Denmark, I worked on international politics with a focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). More recently, I have been primarily interested in understanding how crises and crisis declarations affect society, and especially how perceptions of (future) crises influence us culturally, politically, and socially.
