  • Admissions Start: October every year.
  • Deadline: 1 December
  • Norwegian Language and Society for Foreign Students - one year programme: Deadline 1 December

Norwegian Higher Education Entrance QualificationHigher Education Entrance Qualification is the general basis for admission to universities and university colleges in Norway.
For applicants with foreign basic education, the requirements for secondary school education, English proficiency and/or additional year(s) of higher education are specified in the Country (GSU) List below.

Proof of English ProficiencyAn international student’s English skills must pass the English tests that UiT accepts.

There are no preparatory courses in English available.

Exemptions/waiver from the English test apply to limited cases. Please click on the link below to see the requirements for your country.

Proof of Financial Ability
International students from outisde EU/EFTA must have access to enough funds to pay for own living expenses for at least one academic year. If admitted, these funds must be transferred to the Student Deposit in Norway to apply for student visa.

Norway, Swiss Confederation, Iceland, Liechtenstein and EU citizens are exempted from the requirement for proof of financial ability.

Additional requirements

Depending on where you completed upper secondary education, you may be required to have additional year(s) of university education and supporting documents for verification purposes to be eligible for international admissions (Bachelor's programmes). Please see the links below.

Checklist of required documentsApplicants must submit complete online application for international admissions on or before the specified deadline (23:59 Norwegian Standard Time).
Incomplete applications will be refused regardless of academic qualifications.

You have finished your application, what's next?
Checking your application status

You can change your application by adding or removing a document until the specified deadlines (23:59 Norwegian Standard Time).  The status of your application will be "Under consideration" on the Application Web (Søknadsweb) until we have finished the admission process.

SCHOLARSHIPS

UiT The Arctic University of Norway has no scholarships to offer to cover your living expenses in Norway unless you already have one before your arrival or under certain exchange schemes in collaboration with UiT and your home university:

These grants or scholarships are usually awarded automatically to students admitted to the exchange programme through their home institution.

Other Scholarships (You should be aware that these funding opportunities are few and will in most cases not cover the total costs of you stay in Norway):
