📄 Required documents for incoming exchange students

English language
All incoming exchange students must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency at least B2 or C1 level in English (CEFR scale) unless they meet one of the exemptions below:
Exemptions

Erasmus+ students from institutions in the EU, Türkiye, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Liechtenstein: No documentation required.

Nordic students with upper secondary education in Finland, Faroe Islands, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland, or Sweden: No documentation required ifthey have studied a Scandinavian language and English at your secondary school education.

Students from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the USA: No documentation required if you are a native speaker or studying primarily in English.
Other regions
Students from Africa (except South Africa), Caucasus (Armenia and Georgia), China, Japan, Latin America, and South Korea should ask their home institution to issue a certificate confirming English proficiency at B2 or C1 level.

Norwegian language
Nordic students with upper secondary school education in Finland, Faroe islands, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland and Sweden
If you have upper secondary school qualifications granting general admission to higher education in your home country, and have studied in your native language (Danish and Swedish) at the most advanced level at upper secondary school, you are not required to take a Norwegian language proficiency test.
Other students
If you plan to take courses taught in Norwegian, you must document your proficiency.

Transcript of Record (ToR)
Your transcript must include all completed semesters, even if some grades are pending.
- 🎓 Bachelor’s Transcript – if applying for bachelor-level courses (course codes 1000–2000)
- 🎓 Master’s Transcript – if applying for master-level courses (course codes 3000–4000)
🌐 Transcripts must be in English, Norwegian, Danish, or Swedish.
If your transcript is in another language, it must be officially translated by your university or a certified translator. The translator’s name and stamp/seal must be visible.
📄 Electronic Transcripts:
UiT accepts official electronic transcripts approved by your home university.
📊 Grade Explanation:
Make sure your transcript includes a grading scale or explanation.
Passport or National ID Card (only EU citizens)
- 🇪🇺 EU/EEA Citizens: Upload a copy of your National ID card or passport (PDF)
- 🌍 Non-EU/EEA Citizens: Upload a copy of your international passport (PDF)
🔐 All personal documents are protected under the EU GDPR.
Résumé / CV (Education Only)
Upload a short, clear CV that includes:
- 👤 Your full name
- 🎓 Your educational background (upper secondary, bachelor’s, master’s, PhD)
- 📅 Chronological order only
