The selection of course modules is the most important step in your application because it determines whether you are going to receive your admission offer in time or not. Student who usually ignore or neglect the information in this section, get their application delayed. This is why we strongly urge you to carefully read the information in this section.

Please keep these criteria in mind when choosing your course modules:

  • Students must choose most of their within their subject field or degree at their Home University. You can also choose courses from other subject fields if you meet the admission requirements for each course module you want to select. Note: Students who select modules from more than one academic school/department are more likely to experience timetable clashes.
  • Selecting course modules from different campuses: it is NOT possible to mix course modules from different campuses per semester because the campuses are located in different cities.
  • Admission requirements: each course module has admission requirements, also known as prerequisites. You MUST meet the admission requirements when choosing them. Note: UiT cannot be held responisble for not being accepted to courses if you do not meet the admission requirements.
  • How many modules you can choose? The minimum credit load per semester is 30 ECTS. We encourage you to choose 50 - 70 ECTS during your application to increase your chance of being admitted to at least 30 ECTS modules that are not in conflict in the Timetable.
  • Course levels: each module starts with 3 abbreviation letters (for example, KJE for chemistry, BIO for biology, PSY for psychology) and 4 numerical digits in the catalogues. The modules with the numerical digits 1000 - 2000 are for bachelor's degree students. The modules with the numerical digits 2000 - 300 are for master's students - it means you must have completed your bachelor's degree or 180 ECTS at your home university to be able to choose these modules.
  • Accessing your timetable: If your selected course modules are approved, then your individual timetable will be published at the start of the semester, i.e. after you have received your Letter of Acceptance from UiT.
  • Examinations at UiT: please see this website Exams at UiT | UiT
