Objectives of the course
On completion of this module the students will have an understanding of the concepts of cultural tourism and ecotourism. With a knowledge of the main principles of the complexity of heritage and ecotourism, in combination with commodification, interpretation and marketing, the students will be able to understand and develop cultural and heritage assets in tourism.Teaching methods
The teaching will be based on lectures and group work, case-based learning and discussions, and the presentation of team reports. The students submit three papers. There will also be one written exam. The papers must be approved before the students qualify to sit the examination, and will be evaluated as a part of the examination.Assessment
Part 1: There will be a four-hour online open source exam counting for 60% of the final grade. Part 2: The papers written during the course constitute the second half of the assessment, counting 40% of the final grade. The final grade is based on the work assignments and the written examination. The grading scale from A to F will be utilised whereby A is the best grade and F is failed. A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course.Error rendering component
