HIF-3113 Libraries, Archives and Museums (LAM) for Sustainable Development - 10 ECTS

Application deadline

Applicants from countries within EU/EEA: June 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester. Exchange students and Fulbright students: 15 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester.

Type of course

This course may be taken as an elective by students enrolled in MA programme in media and documentation science. It may be taken as an elective course within other MA programme at UiT and by international students at UiT that hold a BA degree or equivalent degree, in the social sciences, humanities, and education.

Admission requirements

A bachelor's degree, or equivalent degree, in the humanities.

Course content

The course provides theoretical and practical understanding about the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the important role of libraries, archives, and the museums in sustainable thinking and participation in both local and global community efforts.

The following coursework requirements must be completed and approved to take the home exam.

  • 80% presence in lectures and workshops
  • Oral presentation of the term paper project in class (approx. 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion, which includes 2-page written project overview)

Re-sit examination

A resit exam is arranged for students who have not passed the last ordinary exam in this course. In the event of a re-sit examination, the student may submit a revised version of his/her term paper within a given deadline.
