The Department of Health and Care Sciences is organised under the Faculty of Health Sciences. We are located at the university campus in Tromsø (Breivika), Hammerfest, Harstad and Narvik. We also have activity in Kirkenes, Alta, Kautokeino, Nordreisa, Bardufoss, and Finnsnes.

The Department of Health and Care Sciences (IHO) at the Faculty of Health Sciences offers a wide range of health-related educational programs. We aim to contribute to the further development of high-quality health and care services for the population of Northern Norway through research, development, and educational activities.

The department provides educational programs in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiography, nursing, and paramedicine, and offers master programs and further education within these disciplines. We also contribute to the PhD program at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The department has approximately 1800 students and 260 staff members, mainly located in Hammerfest, Tromsø, Harstad, and Narvik. We offer full-time nursing education at our four campuses in Hammerfest, Tromsø, Harstad, and Narvik, in addition to decentralized/part-time nursing education at our study locations in Kirkenes, Alta, Kautokeino, Nordreisa, Tromsø, Finnsnes, Bardufoss, and Harstad.
