The department host seven research groups; Health Professional Education, Healthcare Professional Practice, Acute and critically ill, Rural and Remote Nursing and Healthcare in Arctic and North-Sàmi Area, Courage2B, Public Health and Rehabilitering, Centre for Care Research North and, aligned with the research group with the same name, a research center: Centre for Care Research North (SOF North). The department has a Scientific council including the head of department, head of administration, the research group leaders, as well as the SOF North center leader.
