Hematological Research Group (HERG)

The main interests of the research group is to identify novel risk factors for cardiovascular diseases with particular focus on venous thrombosis (VTE) , and to elucidate pathophysiological mechanism(s) involved, with special focus on the impact of genetic and environmental risk factors, and their interactions on VTE risk.

Venous thrombosis, including deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, is a common cardiovascular disease with serious short- and long-term complications, and potentially fatal outcome.
