“The Northern Sea Route: Between international law, national interests, and geopolitics” is the title of the most recent special issue of The Polar Journal, December 2020. The special issue, edited by Jan Solski and Tore Henriksen, consists of nine articles addressing different aspects of the political situation, economic prospects, and the legal status of the Northern Sea Route (NSR). The contributions, a product of our successful international and interdisciplinary collaboration, take a fresh snapshot of the different processes and drivers shaping the governance of Arctic shipping.
