Environmental and management challenges

Freshwater ecosystems and resources face a number of threats and challenges of which many are addressed in our ongoing research activities. In particular we are studying impacts and potential management strategies in respect to biological invasions (particularly fish introductions), infectious agents like the salmon killer Gyrodactylus salaris, the salmon lice Lepeophtheirus salmonis and other fish parasites, overexploitation and other mismanagement issues for fish populations, aquaculture escapees, habitat modifications, pollution, and climate change effects.
