Centre for Arctic and Global Health has three employees:

INGER B. SCHEEL - HEAD OF CENTRE

Inger Scheel

Inger B. Scheel has broad interests in global health, in particular themes within health systems research, public health, social and political determinants of health, public health ethics, and methods development in these fields. She is a keen advocate for multi-disciplinary approaches in global health research, and has headed large, multidisciplinary researcher networks such as Norwegian Forum for Global Health Research and Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and International Health and the secretariat for the Lancet – UiO Commission on Global Governance for Health.


Inger holds the appointment of associate professor at the University of Tromsoe – The Arctic University of Norway, where she serves as the head of Centre for Arctic and Global Health. She is affiliated to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health as a senior scientist.

MONA KIIL - SENIOR ADVISOR

Mona Kiil

As a social anthropologist and health scientist, with fieldwork from West-Africa and Northern Norway, Mona has a particular knowledge of how experiences from local communities can be transferred to and understood on the global health arena. She has thorough insights to how indigeneity, religion and gender shapes societies and how this intertwines with various health practices.

As a senior advisor at the Centre for Arctic and Global Health, Mona is head of projects such as “Norwegian-Russian International Programme of Professional Exchange” (NRIPPE), and is managing the agreements of collaboration with the counties of Murmansk and Arkhangelsk. Among other tasks are giving advice and providing practical assistance regarding both Arctic and global health collaboration.



TURID AUSTIN WÆHLER - ADVISOR
Turid Austin Wæhler

Educated in Russian and Peace and Conflict Studies (from UiT - The Arctic University of Norway and the University of Glasgow), Turid has a professional background that allows her to see unexpected interconnections in the health sphere. She has lived and worked in several countries (France, Russia, Scotland, Kazakhstan and Ukraine), and has a heartfelt enthusiasm for collaboration across borders.

As an advisor at Centre for Arctic and Global Health, Turid coordinates projects in global health at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway and the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN). Her tasks include amongst others advice on relevant cooperation partners, dissemination of information on initiatives in global health, assistance in writing applications, mapping of funding opportunities, in addition to general project coordination.
