Stefan Bünz
Professor in Marine Geophysics

Research interests:
Stefan has a strong background in marine geology and geophysics, specializing in areas such as fluid flow, gas hydrate systems, marine geohazards, oceanic heat flow, CO2-storage, and seafloor ecosystems. Stefan is proficient in a range of analytical and numerical techniques, including seismic imaging and other geophysical analysis. He is committed to advancing our understanding of the Earth’s oceanic systems, particularly on all aspects of gas hydrate and fluid flow in marine sediments and their role in storing and remobilizing carbon with implications for climate and seafloor ecosystems.
Stefan holds a PhD degree in marine geology and geophysics from UiT The Arctic University of Norway. He has been a professor at the Department of Geology at UiT since 2007. His research contributions are documented in over 80 peer-reviewed publications.
Mohamed M. Ezat

My research focuses on the interplay between the cryosphere, ocean circulation, the carbon cycle, and climate dynamics in high-latitude regions in the past. My areas of expertise include paleoceanography and paleoclimatology, geochemistry, foraminiferal culturing and plankton biology, micropaleontology, and data–model integration.

Jeg er litteraturforsker innenfor faget Engelsk og professor i humanistisk kjønnsforskning. Mine forskningsinteresser er konsentrert rundt to poler: for det første, reiselitteratur med vekt på kjønn og det nordlige; for det andre, kjønn og modernisme, med fokus på Virginia Woolfs forfatterskap. I perioden 2013–16 ledet jeg et internasjonalt forskningsprosjekt med tittelen Arctic Modernities, finansiert av NFRs Polarforskningsprogram. I tillegg til HSL-fakultetets kjernegruppe besto prosjektet av en gruppe nasjonale og internasjonale forskere, to i Norge og sju internasjonale (fra Danmark, Sverige, Finland, Canada, Tyskland og USA).
Prosjektet har bl.a. utgitt temanumre av Nordlit 35 (2015) og Acta Borealia 33,2 (2016).
Sammen med professor Beatrice Halsaa, Universitetet i Oslo, er jeg i perioden 2016–18 hovedredaktør for tidsskriftet NORA – Nordic Journal of Feminist and Gender Research.
