Heart to Heart researcher workshop: online 2022

The international researcher workshop for the Heart to Heart collaboration attaracted over 50 reseachers from institutions in Russia, Norway, UK and Germany, aming to identify priority areas and key scientific areas for the upcoming joint data collections in the second Know Your Heart study and the seventh survey of the Tromsø Study

The workshop was opened by the head of Tromsø Study Sameline Grimsgaard (UiT, Norway) and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Tatiana Unguryanu (Northern State Medical University, Arkhangelsk). Head of international research competence centre  Alexander V. Kudryavtsev (Northern State Medical University) and Professor David Leon (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) presented the main achievements of Heart to Heart collaboration, and outlined the need to continue joint research on the health of the population of Russia and Norway to explain the reasons for the existing differences. Workshop participants proposed scientific questions and data collection methods in the following areas: aging and intrinsic capacity, socio-economic and behavioral risk factors for cardiovascular disease, cardiometabolic health with risk factors diet and physical activity, clinical measurements and biomarkers of cardiovascular disease, environmental contaminants and its impact on health, microbiome, eHealth and the use of registry-linkage. The participants noted the importance of the participation of representatives of national health systems in shaping the agenda of international population health studies.

The seminar was attended by 54 researchers from institutions in Russia including Arkhangelsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk (Northern State Medical University, Higher School of Economics, National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine, Federal Research and Clinical Center for Physical and Chemical Medicine, North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov, National Medical Research Center named after V. A. Almazov, Novosibirsk State Medical University), Norway including Tromsø and Oslo (UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Norwegian Institute of Public Health, and University of Oslo), UK including London, Cambridge and Glasgow (London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of Cambridge, University of Glasgow) and Germany includig Rostock (Institute for Demographic Research of the Max Planck Society).

The workshop was organized by Northern State Medical University and UiT The Arctic University of Norway with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.
