Jan Mewes
Job description
Jan holds a doctorate (2009) in social sciences from the University of Bremen, Germany, and has previously worked as lecturer (2018-2024) at the Department of Sociology at Lund University - with which he is still affiliated as an adjunct professor - and as researcher at the Universities of Umeå and Örebro, Sweden.
His research mainly concerns the determinants and consequences of social trust, i.e. the belief that most people can be trusted. He is also interested in health, welfare states and migration. His teaching concerns quantitative methods, social policy, health and the sociology of migration and integration.
