Background
In close collaboration between services, agencies, and sectors working with children and young people, and together with the young people themselves, CYPRO aims to contribute to the development of strategies and tools for more coordinated interaction with vulnerable youth in the early stages of problem development.
Crime and drug use can have serious consequences, both for the individual youth, their families, victims of crime, and society as a whole. Prevention of crime and drug behavior in the youth population is therefore a central societal task. It is important that services, both in the public and voluntary sectors, and in collaboration with young people themselves, are coordinated in their preventive efforts.
National statistics on registered crime show an increase in the number of young people under the age of 18 who are charged with violent crime, ref.: Statistics Norway: 09415: Suspects by principal offence group, sex and age (and principal offence category -2014). Absolute figures and per 1 000 inhabitants 2002 - 2019.
National figures from Ungdata show the same trend. In the Ungdata survey for 2020, 20 percent of Norwegian youth reported that they have been subjected to violence by peers. Ref.: Anders Bakken: Ungdata 2020: National results. NOVA Report 16/20, 2020. (Summary) Research emphasizes early, interdisciplinary and inter-agency efforts as key initiatives to prevent and alleviate children and young people's challenges. Strengthening and further developing cooperation within and between services is highlighted as very important in preventive work. Ref.: Johannessen B. & Skotheim T. (eds.) (2018): "Children and young people in the middle. Interdisciplinary and inter-agency work in children and young people's upbringing".
It is therefore of great societal interest to achieve a better understanding of how public and voluntary services can collaborate with both each other and with young people to prevent and prevent crime and drug use, such as alcohol. In close collaboration between services in the public and voluntary sectors, and with the young people themselves, we want to contribute with CYPRO to develop strategies and tools to work more coordinated with vulnerable youth and their families in the early stages of problem development.
The project is divided into two parts and includes an open DIGITAL collaboration network (zoom) and a research component.
