Keynote at Zero Emission Transportation Forum 2024

On October 18, 2024, Dr. Mi Gan shared the recent research on the relationship between Chengdu's built environment and freight emissions at the Zero Emission Transportation Forum 2024.

On October 18, 2024, Dr. Mi Gan, along with her team in Smart Logistics Big Data Application Technology at Southwest Jiaotong University, was invited to the “Towards Zero Emission Transportation Forum 2024” and the annual meeting of the China Clean Transportation Partnership (CCTP).

At the forum, Dr. Gan shared the recent research on the relationship between Chengdu's built environment and freight emissions. This study addresses growing concerns about urban freight emissions, particularly as diesel trucks—though only 2.7% of China's motor vehicles—contribute 78% of PM2.5 and 90% of NOx emissions in the transportation sector, heavily impacting air quality in urban areas and communities near major transit routes. The visit to the National Environmental Protection Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Lab in Chengdu offered key insights into freight emissions and emissions control, supporting effective pollution policy making.

Green Transition is the key focus of collaboration between Norway and China. This project, jointly led by UiT and Southwest Jiaotong University, emphasizes the transition of transportation and logistics sectors through data-driven and technology-based research and practices, including initiatives like smart logistics and truck electrification, which are vital steps toward achieving carbon reduction goals and supporting a sustainable future.
