Presentations at the IEEM Conference 2024

Two research related to Electric Truck Adoption in Nepal and Generative AI for Customer Services were presented at the IEEM Conference 2024

At the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM2024), held from December 15-18, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, two presentations showcased the cutting-edge research from the "Industry 5.0 Enabled Smart Logistics: A Global Perspective" project.

The first presentation was delivered during the "System Modeling and Simulation 2" session by Amit Adhikari, a master's student from UiT The Arctic University of Norway. His research, which forms the basis of his master's thesis, focuses on the adoption of electric trucks in Nepal, employing a novel joint-logistics-and-charging-network model. This study, jointly supervised by UiT The Arctic University of Norway and Southwest Jiaotong University, has been accepted for publication in the journal Green Energy and Intelligent Transportation.

Dr. Hao Yu presented the second research study during the "Service Innovation and Management 2" session, of which he was also the chair of the session. His presentation revealed the transformative potential of Generative AI-assisted Chatbots in enhancing future customer service delivery. This research is at the forefront of exploring AI's integration in service systems, promising substantial advancements in customer interaction and service efficiency.

The IEEM conference is one of the most important events that bring both academia and practitioners in the field of industrial engineering and engineering management, and the IEEM 2025 will be held in Melbourne, Australia IEEM2025. These presentations underscore the project's role in pioneering innovations that bridge technology and practical implementation in logistics and service management, reflecting a significant stride toward integrating Industry 5.0 technologies into global logistics systems.
