LAUMA – Learning And Understanding MAthematics – is a research initiative at UiT The Arctic University of Norway that brings together mathematics, psychology and mathematics education to study how mathematics is learned, understood and experienced: as a scientific discipline, as a subject in school and university, and as a part of human culture.
Our first study, on attitudes towards mathematics among STEM and non-STEM students in Norway, was published in 2023; an international follow-up is under way. See Research.
